DESIGN APPROACH

At CT each new design is an opportunity to explore solutions that are powerful yet simple while providing visitors an impressionable experience. Inspired by nature, we focus on results that seamlessly combine material, form and function.

Our belief is that design begins with an emotion that evolves into an architecture worth experiencing. The human experience is the impetus of our pursuit for “why” we do what we do, and is the reason we love to sketch by hand. Drawing evokes a sense of emotion through connecting the body with paper space. Deep heavy lines are contrasted with thin wispy lines; and gradients meaningfully convey shadow, light and perspective. These qualities of hand-sketching enable us to quickly capture instincts about movement through space, and allow designs to evolve from an honest and pure origin; An innocence untampered with; A genuine and unique feeling about space, time and experience.

Drawn gestures are then vectorized in 3D modeling software. Virtual environments allow us to study and further refine architectural movements in-context and from all perspectives. Our experienced team of 3D modelers develop assemblies and geometries in preparation for each construction method. CT’s research in this realm is focused on accurate translations of emotional sketch-work brought to life by emergent fabrication techniques such as 3D printing and CNC milling. We balance the use of these technologies to assist in bringing-to-life the dream-like qualities of our sensational sketch-work.
